The partnership will focus on Europe, with Waymo planning phased commercial deployment beginning in Germany and the ambition to extend the model to additional markets over time.
The collaboration brings together Waymo’s autonomous driving system, the Waymo Driver, with Allianz’s global insurance, mobility assistance, and vehicle safety research capabilities, delivered through Allianz Partners leveraging the full expertise and support of other Allianz entities, such as the Allianz Center for Technology (AZT), Allianz Versicherungs-AG, Allianz Commercial and Solvd Group.
Four Priority Areas: Insurance, Claims, Safety Research, and Vehicle Recovery
- Insurance and risk solutions: Tailored coverage and risk management for Waymo´s autonomous fleets, including motor fleet insurance, products and general liability multinational insurance programs for product liability protection, and new insurance models designed for autonomous mobility platforms.
- Claims ecosystem: Digital claims handling facilitated through Solvd Group, the digital claims management entity within Allianz Partners, to enable streamlined end-to-end claims processing in future.
- Research and safety collaboration: Joint research on autonomous vehicle safety, claims trends, and risk modeling. Allianz Center for Technology contributes crash analysis and vehicle safety expertise with potential for joint publications as operational data becomes available.
- Vehicle Recovery: Additionally, the companies will explore potential new areas of collaboration over time, including innovative operational solutions to streamline vehicle recovery tailored for autonomous fleets.
