Deriving Benefit from New Learnings

Once decisions are made, either by people or AI agents, the results from those decisions will occur over time. When those results are fed back to the decision-makers, their knowledge is increased. Expanded knowledge contributes to future reasoning with the expectation that future decisions will be improved.

In the person's case, the feedback may be recorded systematically or (as is usually the case) it may not. Good but busy people seldom take the additional time required to complete that extra task. And, even when recorded, it is difficult to share with others who make similar decisions.

In the AI agent's case, the feedback is automatically recorded as part of the knowledge base. That base is in turn used by other AI Agents; no “transfer” of knowledge to them is required.

AI learning agents sharing the same knowledge base make decisions based on the complete knowledge base, both original and learned, automatically.

It appears that AI Agents provide some advantage over people.

But there are also downsides, one of which stems from the question of who owns and who shares the learnings stored in the knowledge base.

More next week.
