CNS funds unique IBABC broker training program

July 5, 2010 - Leading BC insurer CNS is pleased to announce its latest investment in the broker channel.

CNS (part of RSA Canada) has made a $250,000 contribution towards the Insurance Brokers Association of BC's (IBABC) New Broker Essential Skills certificate program.

The program, that provides tactical skills and technical knowledge to entry-level brokers through both online training modules and face-to-face seminars, was developed out of insight gained from broker focus groups across BC.

"We asked brokers what's important to them in terms of training programs and the brokers told us it would be most effective to develop the skills of new entrants to the insurance market," said Ken Keenan, Western Canada Vice President

The program is designed for junior licensees who have less than four years of industry experience and are currently employed by a BC brokerage. It's intended to help attract new entrants into the market, assist brokerages with succession planning and provides a systemic learning approach for the more intangible skills a broker needs.

"This further demonstrates our support of brokers in BC," added Keenan. "This program will equip new brokers with essential skills that will serve them throughout their careers."

This latest investment joins other successful RSA initiatives that aim to help brokers enhance their skills and grow their businesses such as, Broker Bootcamp a specialized training program for brokers new to the business and Making Partner a program designed with Queen's University to provide leadership and business skills to brokers on track to becoming senior leaders.
