IBC brings 'Be Smart. Be Safe.' to Carassauga Festival
Toronto, ON (May 26, 2016) – Does taking a quick look at your phone while driving count as distracted driving? How can you reduce the risk of water damage to your property in a flood?
Answer these and other important road and home safety questions at Insurance Bureau of Canada's Be Smart. Be Safe. interactive display at the Carassauga Festival this weekend.
The booth will feature fun, engaging games and challenges that will increase your awareness of home and road safety, and improve your financial and insurance literacy:
- Fact or Fiction Game: Test your insurance knowledge by answering a series of home, auto and general insurance questions. Steve Kee of IBC will host the game on the main stage on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to all who participate.
- Safety Mobile: This interactive driving simulator allows you to experience being the victim in four staged collision scenarios. You'll also learn how to avoid, detect and report this form of insurance fraud. Take the "texting while driving challenge" to find out the dangers of distracted driving. The driving simulator has a standard-sized driver's seat, gas pedal, brake pedal, steering wheel and dashboard, as well as a plasma monitor.
- Dry House Challenge: Race against time to solve problems related to flood prevention. This game offers pointers on how to protect your home from water damage.
IBC representatives will be on hand to provide information about changes to auto insurance that, as of June 1, will provide Ontario drivers with more affordable premiums and more choice in benefit levels.
This summer, IBC will be travelling with its interactive display to a variety of community events in Ontario. "IBC has a long history of working with communities to make them safer," said Kim Donaldson, Vice-President, Ontario, IBC. "The Be Smart. Be Safe. tour is a natural evolution of that tradition and is a fun and memorable way in which to deliver important safety messages."
During the Carassauga Festival, look for IBC's interactive display in the Canada Pavilion at the Hershey Centre, 5500 Rose Cherry Place, Mississauga.
Visit on Friday, May 27, from 7:30 p.m. to midnight; Saturday, May 28, from 1:00 p.m. to midnight; or Sunday, May 29, from 1:00 - 7:00 p.m. There will be an assortment of giveaways.
